How Window on Woking Works

Adding your organisation to Window on Woking is a painless, three-step process.  But once you've supplied the details for yourself and your organisation, what's next?

Publishing on Window on Woking

As soon as you've registered your organisation, your homepage is built and you can begin to develop your site.  At first, your site can only be seen by you personally using the login details you'll be sent.  When your organisation is approved, your homepage becomes available to the rest of the world.  You can then choose to make public any further pages you've added to your site.

You can add as many pages to your site as you wish, at any time, using a special part of Window on Woking called the Administration Shell.  When you add an organisation to Window on Woking, you become an editor for that organisation and can use your login details to access the Administration Shell.

Here are some other things you can do using the Administration Shell:

  • Change the contact details and description for your organisation
  • Add extra content to your homepage
  • Add your own events to the Diary of Events
  • Add PDF files as pages on your site
  • Amend and delete pages at any time
  • Add images and links to any of your pages
  • Choose a theme for your organisation's site
  • Set pages to be automatically removed from your site on a certain date
  • View statistics for the number of people visiting your site
  • Set pages to be only visible to people who have registered with your organisation, or have registered with other organisations that you choose.
  • Have one version of a page available to the public, while you work on another version of the same page "in test".

People who register with your organisation on Window on Woking can also apply to become publishers.  You can have as many registered users, publishers and editors as you need.
