What is Window on Woking?

Window on Woking  is a Community website, hosting a wide range  of 'microsites' developed by local community organisations.   This is a free service for community groups and organisations in the Woking area,  where they can publicise and share information about their activities, events and provide their contact details. 

This website provides community information on a wide range  of subjects, including:

  • Health, care and community support
  • Local charities
  • Recreation and sport
  • Arts and entertainment
  • Local community partnerships and initiatives

Window on Woking has been developed by Woking Borough Council in partnership with WAVS,  Woking Citizens Advice Bureau and the Community Legal Services Partnership.  It has been part funded by the ODPM (Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) through the Government's e-Innovations programme.

Window on Woking is provided free of charge to local not-for-profit community organisations.

A range of web facilities

Window on Woking provides advanced web facilities including:

  • Searching for different types of organisation
  • A diary of local events that is always up to date
  • Members' areas for organisations
  • Secure sharing of information:- between members of organisations, and between different organisations

Above all, Window on Woking has been developed to enable anybody to build a website and publish information on behalf of their organisation with no previous experience or special skills in producing web pages.

It's growing and developing!

We are commited to a programme of long term development with new facilities and functions constantly under development.   Work is underway on providing e-forms, new template styles and online grants application.  You can keep up to date with our regular e-bulletins sent to everyone who registers with Window on Woking

Anyone can add their own comments and information to an organisation's 'microsite'.  Simply submit your request to become a publisher to an organisation.
