The Woking Youth Action Team is a group of young people aged 16 and 25 that promote volunteering to their peers, enabling them to make a difference in their community.
Working in partnership with the Woking Association of Voluntary Service (WAVS) and Woking Borough Council (WBC) the Youth Action Team Woking aims to create volunteering projects designed to meet the needs of the young people between 16 and 25 by:
Promoting volunteering to young people between 16 and 25
Setting up youth lead volunteering projects
Working with local organisations to create youth friendly volunteering opportunities
Supporting other young people with their volunteering
Engaging with the existing youth infrastructure to encourage youth volunteering.
Raising the profile of volunteering to young people
The Youth Action Team Woking hopes to run four Project per year,hold one residential volunteering project per year, gererate 25 new young volunteers per year aged between 16 and 25, seek funding through WBC´s Small Grants Scheme, High Sheriff´s Youth Award and other external sources and to encourage young people to come forward and serve on the WYAT committee.
The Youth Action Team Woking Committee meets on a monthly basis, facilitated by WAVS, as well as attending Woking Youth Council meetingsm, which are held every month.
