Description

The aim of the group is to provide support to people who write. We meet in the comfortable surroundings of Strollers Cafe, Goldsworth Park. (Near to Waitrose and with good parking.) The meetings are on the third Thursday of each month and are from 7.30 to 10.00(sharp).

The group comprises a great mixture of young and old, male and female, trendy and traditional. We feel this gives us an eclectic approach. Some of our members write fantasy fiction; others write poetry. We have travel writers and a Greek historian! No, he's not Greek, he just writes about Ancient Greeks - Socrates, for example.

Each month we each try to read some of our work and sit back to hear constructive criticism. This is sometimes difficult!

We also have a 'homework spot', when we share our writing. Then we have a writing exercise linked to next month's homework, to 'get us going', for about half an hour.

We have a stand each year during February at Woking Library, and we produce an annual booklet with samples of our writing.

New members can visit for two months free before deciding whether to join or not. The subscription is £24 annually to cover the accommodation costs.
