Description

Exercise, fitness and fun for the over 50's in Woking.

25 years old in 2009

The club, which is run jointly by Woking Leisure Centre and a committee of members, aims to offer opportunities for fitness and fun open to anyone over the age of 50.  There are no joining fees - simply turn up each week at Woking Leisure Centre to enjoy a wide variety of activities.  The centre supplies all equipment required.  All you need are clothes that will allow you to move freely and non-marking plimsolls.

There are three sessions per week and members can attend as many or as few sessions as they like.  Each session starts with a low to moderate workout, and members can then choose to join in a range of other activities such as racquet sports, bowls, country dancing, or water workout.  In addition, you can choose to go to the gym or for a swim.  You may then finish off your session with a visit to the Heatwaves Suite, where you can use the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

The club has a committee, which is made up of members of the club.  They are on hand to give you advice if you have any problems or queries.  They will show you round on your first visit and explain to you how the club works.  The club aims to create a fun atmosphere where new members feel welcome and make friends.  The committee organises a full calendar of social events, such as a monthly guided walk, trips to places of interest, quiz evenings, a summer garden party, and concerts.   Group holidays in the UK or abroad, dependent on members wishes, can also be arranged. For further details see 'Current Social Events' section.
