Woking Music Festival

Most Promising Singer Award

The Most Promising Young Singer Award is open to all singers aged 16-25 years who enter ANY VOCAL class in the festival. The winner is chosen by the committee after recommendations from the adjudicator, notified in December and invited to sing at the prestigious Young Musician Competition Concert in February, when a cheque for £200 is presented, together with The Wendy Cane Memorial Prize, presented by the Cane family in memory of Wendy.

Dorothy Klepacka was presented with this award at the Young Musician of the Year concert on 2nd February.

Dorothy has greatly enjoyed singing from a very young age. She is studying for A levels in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Art at Godalming College, where she has also had the opportunity to study singing with Jane Masters. Dorothy enjoys singing in a wide variety of styles, jazz and Italian arias being among her favourite genres, and she participates in the College Chamber Choir and Madrigal Ensemble. She has regularly and successfully participated in Woking and Godalming Music Festivals in recent years and has taken part in a masterclass with Philippa Goss. Although she is planning to go on to study Medicine, Dorothy is determined to continue to develop her singing experience in the future.
