We are a voluntary group of local residents of all ages who use bicycles for transport and leisure. We believe that the bicycle has an important role to play in creating a healthier, cleaner and safer environment. Our aim is to further the interests of cyclists and other vulnerable road users in and around Woking. We are affiliated to Woking“s Local Agenda 21 initiative and lobby Surrey County Council and others to improve provision for cyclists in the Woking area. We also lead rides for inexperienced cyclists.
We strongly believe that if cycling were seen by potential cyclists as easier and safer, there would be more people cycling and if more people cycle this will increase the demand for better cycle facilities. This becomes a virtuous circle whereby all cyclists benefit.
The next few years are going to be very exciting for Woking's cyclists now that the town has been recognised as a "Cycling Town" by Cycling England. This means that at least £3.6 million will be spent on cycling in Woking in the next 3 years. If you would like to get involved with deciding how this money should be spent or taking part in some of the activities, please contact us.
