Description

Bicycle recycling, repair & training in your neighbourhood

We aim to provide two community led and run cycle stations within Woking supporting the transformation of cycling infrastructure following Woking being granted Cycle Town status in June 2008. (see www.cyclewoking.org.uk) In 2009 we aim to set up two Cycle Stations on Lakeview and Sheerwater to help create a dynamic and friendly centre for cycle awareness, training and re-cycling for everyone to use. We hope this will increase the number of people cycling for work and leisure in and around Woking and stimulate economic and training activity in areas of multiple economic needs.

This project is still in the planning stages but gathering support from cycle users and supporting organisations across Woking and beyond! If you´re a cyclist or want to be or would like to see more people cycling and reduce car miles, we need YOUR help so please contact us. Be in at the start and see how you can get involved!

The Cycle Stations will seek to provide:

oworkshops for the recycling of bicycles from various sources;

oa cheap and easily accessible source of refurbished second hand bikes (especially for those on low incomes);

obicycle maintenance and repair training for young people and other residents;

oworkshop space for cyclists without their own garage/shed (Fix your Own);

oBikability training, build your own bike and road safety awareness supporting cycling and cyclists in Woking.
