Eating Disorder Support Group (Woking)

The Eating Disorders Association is the leading organisation providing information, support and help across the United Kingdom for people affected by eating disorders.

The key aims of the EDA are:

- To provide information, help and support for all people with an eating disorder.

- Increase knowledge, awareness and understanding of eating disorders.

- To improve availability of treatment for people with eating disorders and improve standards of care.

To represent tenants and leaseholders interest when discussing issues with Woking Borough Council.

The aims and objectives of the Society shall be:

a. The study and practice of choral music in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation of such music through public performances

b. To assist and further such charitable institutions and charitable purposes as determined by the Committee.

Evergreens (The)


Providing regular meetings with either entertainment or a speaker - for local senior citizens. Also two subsidised day outings and an annual party.

Face the Future

Our aim is to own 2 holiday homes for children with facial abnormalities and their families to help children have fun and to help be accepted into today's world.  Our ultimate aim is to own a purpose built property for these children and families for a place to come and have fun and talk to others about their own experiences.

fITRA

fITRA stands for f Islamic Teaching, Reading and Activities. It is also an arabic word meaning innate God-consciousness and childhood innocence.

fITRA aims to provide supplementary Islamic education in Woking, Surrey for local children, ensuring the children develop a happy and confident British Muslim identity.

fITRA also aims to help local schools in their teaching of Islam, providing materials for classroom work and assemblies, and occasional talks.

Friends of the Elderly

Friends of the Elderly have been helping older people since 1905.  Our vision is that all older people should retain their independence, dignity and peace of mind.  We offer high quality residential and nursing care in 17 care homes, some with dementia units.  We support older people to stay living in their own homes with a range of community services including welfare grants for those in financial need, day care, home support, home visiting and telephone befriending.

Friends of the Vyne

Community Centre run by Woking Borough Council, provides day care service, mother and toddler group, and a varied programme of events.  Café, bathing service, hairdressing.  All areas accessible for wheelchair users.

Girlguiding Surrey West

Girlguiding Surrey West, a county within Girlguiding UK and as part of a worldwide movement enables girls and young women to fulfil their potential and to take an active and responsible role in society, through its distinctive, stimulating and enjoyable programme of activities delivered by trained volunteers.

Goldsworth Care

It is our aim to assist those members of the community in the Goldsworth Park area, who are unable to get to their medical appointments or shopping.

Grange Centre, The

The Grange Centre provides a high quality service to people with disabilities, offering skills training in work and social skills, productive work opportunities, support housing and residential care. The aim is to achieve optimum independence, dignity and fulfillment while respecting the privacy, individuality and rights of each person.

Greenoak Housing Association (SE) Ltd

Aims:- To respond to the housing needs of the community, continuously improve services to a high standard and to promote the well-being of those we house.

Handicap International UK

Working in over 55 countries worldwide, Handicap Internationhal's mission is to work with people with disabilities to make a positive difference to their lives.  We provide both emergency relief and long term development support.   Over the last 23 years, Handicap International has developed a unique holistic approach to disability, working on:
- prevention of disability, through activities such as bomb clearance, mine risk education or health education on lymphatic filariasis.
- provision of rehabilitation services, such as physiotherapy and orthopaedics equipment
-inclusion of people with disability in the society, through disability awareness, inclusive education and lobbying for disability rights
- capacity building of local and national associations
Handicap International is one of the founding members of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which was awarded the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.  Handicap International is also currently involved in the Cluster Munition Coalition and is calling for a ban on cluster munitions.

Headway Surrey

Headway Surrey aims to:

-Provide information & support for people with head injuries, their families & carers.

-Promote the provision of appropriate co-ordinated services for people with head injuries with accountability at all stages.

-Assist people with head injuries to return to community living.

-Increase public awareness & understanding of head injury.

-Promote activities that will reduce the incidence of head injuries.

Heartbeat Support Woking

We are a non-profit voluntary support group. We aim to provide a social environment in which to offer support and encouragement to patients, their partners and relatives with, or who have experienced, cardiac problems.

Home-start Woking

Home-start offers free support, friendship and practical help to families with at least one child under five. Families are visited regularly in their own homes by volunteers who have all had experience of parenting.

Horsell Care

Offers a helping hand to residents of Horsell East and West, young and old who find everyday tasks difficult, a range of services to those with mobility and other problems - trips to shops, surgeries, hospitals, friends, etc; help about the house, dog walking etc.  All volunteers work unpaid, but expenses (mainly car mileage) are refunded.  Clients make donations and for longer trips we may indicate a suitable sum.

Horsell Common Preservation Society

The objects of the Society shall be (a) the provision of commons and open spaces and in particular, Horsell Common, for informal open air recreation and enjoyment by the public at large and (b) such other charitable purposes, activities or undertakings as may in the opinion of the Committee promote or assist such object.

Horsell Village Hall

To encourage community involvement in various activities and offer facilities for local groups for educational, recreational uses.
EG: Dance classes, theatre groups, chinese association, AGM's etc
Plus drama and music on stage.

Irish Association, Woking& District

Voluntary Association comprised mainly of Irish born or descendants of Irish people, however the membership is open to anyone, who wishes to join - they may like things Irish i.e. music, culture, dance, literature or Irish people. Association holds regular functions and produces a newsletter.

Just Advocacy (Community Partners)

Community Partners is an independent advocacy service for adults with learning disabilities.  Advocates whether paid or volunteers help people with learning disabilities to have their say and to make informed choices about matters affecting their lives.  Volunteer advocates are carefully selected and trained to work 'in partnership' with someone who has a learning disability.  Volunteers also help facilitate self advocacy groups, where people with learning disabilities get together to discuss issues important to them.  In Surrey, we operate in Woking, Waverley, Guildford, Runnymede and Elmbridge.

Keyring - Living Support Networks

Keyring supports adults with learning disabilities to live independently in their own place. Keyring provides housing related support, encourages mutual support, friendships and skill sharing in it's networks.

A community living volunteer provides flexible support and lives just round the corner from members.

Knaphill Care

A voluntary group of members of the local community who aim to offer help to Knaphill residents of any age, who find every day tasks difficult, and cannot get help elsewhere or cannot afford to pay for it.
