The Schoolhouse Tea Rooms has been housed at The Maybury Centre since 1997 and the Trustees have been line-managing on behalf of Woking Borough Council since 1998. It is a drop-centre for the over 50's to meet for light refreshments or snacks, and was set up to provide social integration and provide recreational activities.
We employed a new co-ordinator in June 2008, Anya Butler. Anya has been a very welcome addtion to the Schoolhouse and has quickly settled in.
The Schoolhouse Tea Rooms is open the following days and times:
Mondays: Art Class ~ 10.00 - 1.00pm
Tuesdays: Asian Muslim Elders Club ~ 11.00am - 12.00noon
Thursdays: Italian Association 2.00pm - 4.30pm
Fridays: Drop-in session 10.00am - 1.30pm
At all sessions refreshments and light snacks are available for a small charge. On Monday's Art Class, which is funded by Global Grants, there is a wonderful opportunity to learn a skill and meet new friends. The classes are run by a fully-qualified Art Tutor.
Thursday is the day the Italian Association meet and enjoy gentle exercise sessions and bingo. This is a very popular group. We recently held a small party for Peter and Rosa, two of a users from the start, to celebrate there 50th Wedding Anniversary.
