FAQs - who, what, when ...

Frequently asked Questions

Where are the classes held?

The Old Woking Community Centre (click for map). There is ample car parking on site.

When are the classes held?

Currently there is one class per week, from 1-2.30 pm on Thursdays.  Details are in Term dates and fees.

Who can take Master Bai's courses?

The classes are at intermediate level.  Sometimes we have special beginners classes, but currently the class is near to full so we do not plan to run beginners classes in the near future.

What does a class consist of ?

A class starts with 20 minutes of so of Qi Gong (breathing exercises) and warm-up exercises.  By the end of this you should be wide awake, and feel the Qi as a warmth in your hands.   Some people feel Qi as a kind of electric current.

Master Bai then demonstrates the particular form  or series of movements that we are learning and take us through it to the point we have reached.  She then teaches us the next moves.

The class finishes with some warm-down exercises

How many students?  Cost?

We aim for a class size of 16 students.  The cost depends on the number of students as we run on a not-for-profit basis.  Students enrol for a whole course.  Details of dates and fees are here.

Can I pay as I go?

No.  These courses are not 'drop in' or pay as you go courses.  A commitment is necessary to make progress.  Of course, everyone occasionally misses one or more classes at some time, but you enrol for the course.  Please see our Fee Policy.

Can I try a class?

If a course is not fully subscribed we will be very happy for you to try a class at a pro-rata rate.  We hope that at the end of the class you will wish to continue, in which case we will ask you to pay the balance of the fee for the rest of the course in full.

What should I wear?

The important thing is that clothing should be loose-fitting and comfortable.  Ladies invariably wear trousers or track suits.  Most people wear soft shoes, some wear trainers, some take their shoes off.
