Pares Close Cleans Up

17 April 2007

Residents from Pares Close, Horsell rolled up their sleeves and donned rubber gloves last week (Saturday 14 April 2007) to get stuck in to cleaning up their area.

Assisted by Serco and representatives from the Safer Woking Partnership, members of the Pares Close Residents' Association took to the streets to pick up litter and generally tidy up. They also made use of two skips, provided by the Safer Woking Partnership to dispose of large items of household waste.

Andy Timney, Chairman of the Residents' Association said: "It was a very successful day and the results are there for all to see. I would like to thank everyone who helped out, including Serco, who were great helping residents with heavy items of furniture, and the Police."

Kate Wilson, Woking Borough Council's Neighbourhood Officer said: "The Cleaner Close Day was a great opportunity for Pares Close residents to get involved in their own neighbourhood. It's great to see so many people getting involved to really make a difference to the area in which they live.

Members of the Safer Woking Partnership are currently developing neighbourhood web pages to cover the nine neighbourhoods in the Borough on Window on Woking, (www.windowonwoking.org.uk) which will give further information on all the neighbourhood events.
