Anglican church and Parish Church of Old Woking

WELCOME TO ST PETER’S!We’ve been here for 900 years and are still going strong!  King Charles I worshipped at the church in 1627, when he listened to a sermon on the need to be born again through the living word of God.  Today, with our sister churches of All Souls’, Sutton Green and St Mark’s, Westfield, we continue to proclaim the life-giving message of good news for all through Jesus Christ. Worship embraces modern services, including Common Worship, as well as the historic Book of Common Prayer.  Proclaiming, hearing and obeying God’s Word are central to our life and spirituality.   Members are encouraged to: ·         Meet weekly for worship, especially for the Lord’s Supper·         Grow as Christians through informal home groups·         Take a role of service to the congregation ·         Actively support world mission ·         Get involved in service to the community·         Take time out daily for communion with God through Bible reading and prayer “What we proclaim is not ourselves”, wrote the apostle Paul, “but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.”  Proclaiming, Serving.  That’s why we’re here.   During the 10 o’clock service a crèche is provided in the church vestry and Sunday School groups for children meet in the Church Centre.  Refreshments are available in the Centre after the service. Home groups to deepen spiritual life meet mid-week throughout the parish every fortnight, mostly in the evenings but also in the daytime.  Opportunities to explore Christian faith more fully are also provided regularly.   Quarterly social events include walks, meals and quiz nights.  There are also opportunities to help in various practical ways – from flower arranging and bell ringing to building maintenance and the tea rota!
