Award Winning
in 2008 SADS won the All Winners Festival held in the Isle of Man for our production of The Island by Athol Fugard, directed by Fiona Blackburn, this is a very prestigious award which was presented by Sir Derek Jacobi and adjudicated by Colin Dolley. The Society also won the Woking Drama Festival in October 2007 with the Island and both actors, Matt Kitsell and Peter Heath were jointly awarded Best Actor. In 2003 Fiona Blackburn was awarded best director Woking Festival when she directed Ritual for Dolls by George MacEwan Green.
Our Society
We are a thriving amateur dramatics group comprising of local people of all ages and talents. We have approximately 30 members and we are always looking for new people to join us, everyone is welcome. SADS also gives individuals the opportunity to try different areas of of amateur threatre, directing, make-up, costumes, lighting and backstage - so you don't just have to enjoy acting to be a part of our society.
We meet at the Lancaster Hall, Send Road, Send every Monday and Wednesday at 8pm to rehearse. We don't rehearse all year round so please call Julie Bounden our secretary on 01483 764984 if you are interested in popping down.
Each year we put on three productions a year in March, June/July and December. We do a wide range of amdram, anything from plays, farces, music halls and usually we do a panto each December. We have even put on shows at the Rhoda in recent years, such as Rumours by Neil Simon and Ray Cooney's Run for Your Wife and this year in June we are doing The Love Nest by Raymond Hopkins.
