Have you ever thought of becoming a school governor?

Beaufort Primary School needs people with a passion for education and a desire to make an effective contribution to our work, and you may be just what we are looking for.School improvement (Raising Standards) is the heart and purpose of school governance, which can be seen to have a threefold role.   One is to provide a strategic view of where the school is going, to define long-term aims and to monitor progress toward them.  In doing this governors are expected to be like critical friends, who are anxious to promote the school and support its work; but who also monitor how well it is performing that task.  Governors are also a responsible body. They are accountable on one side to pupils, to parents and to other stakeholders; but they also have to hold the school itself to account, on behalf of all those groups. The governing body has just one full meeting in every term.  There are sub-committees for Resources, Curriculum, Personnel etc on which members serve, which also meet at least once a term, as well as other opportunities to become involved in the life of the school.  Further information can be found on the website www.beaufort.surrey.sch.uk

To be a school governor is an important and worthwhile job, and if you feel it is one you might be glad to do, please telephone the school office on 01483 474986 for an appointment to see Mrs Skinner the Head Teacher, and to be given a tour of the School.
