(Also there were 2 invasions by French forces in the British Isles after this one. These were in 1797 at Fishguard (Wales) and in 1798 at Killala (Ireland). The 1798 action led to the last 'battles' in the British Isles. Some may claim Incidents during the Irish Uprisings may also have been classed as Battles). The last invasion of England itself was in 1778 at Whitehaven Cumberland when the United States of America 'invaded' us!
