In the end it was a much closer contest than people had anticipated. Now we have made our decision I feel very optimistic that we can move forward positively. Nick has the knack of being able to relate well to all sections of the public, and I'm confident he will appeal particularly to the younger voters. It's a cliche but very true nonetheless that we (all parties) must find a way to reengage with the public at both national and local level.
