At the end of October Woking Borough Council applied to adopt the red telephone kiosk in Connaught Road  following a request from local residents. BT notified WBC earlier this year that 10 red telephone boxes in Woking were now surplus to requirements and would be removed. The Brookwood kiosk is the only one to be adopted. Two local residents have undertaken to restore the box to its former glory and to maintain it. As there is already a telephone box outside Brookwood Station the Connaught Road box will not be a working telephone box but the iconic red kiosk will remain a feature of Connaught Road.
