I have lived in Woking for over 50 years. I was educated at Goldsworth Junior School and George Abbot School in Guildford before obtaining a degree in Politics and Sociology from Bristol University.
After a brief spell in advertising with one of the world's leading agencies I qualified as a teacher and taught at The Winston Churchill School and Woking College.
I am married to a solicitor and have two children, one a junior hospital doctor and the other a serving officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps.
I am a member of a local residents association and was a member of the Citizens Panel for a number of years before becoming a borough councillor. Having lived in Woking for most of my life I have developed a keen interest in local issues and now that I am no longer teaching have the time and opportunity to fully participate and contribute towards the community.
I am a member of David Lloyd Health and Leisure Club and Hoebridge Golf Club. I am also a member of Woking United Reformed Church.
I was elected as borough councillor for Brookwood in May 2008
