Over the past year the Police have held regular reassurance meetings which are well attended by residents. If you have any issues in your road relating to crime or vandalism please report them on 0845 125222 as well as voice your concerns at the meetings. Dates for the meetings can be found on the Surrey Police Authority website.
The police will also assist in creating new Neighbourhood Watch areas. There are already 25 in the village.
Despite statistics by police that crime has been reduced in our area, there have been a number of incidents which have been giving residents reasons for considerable concern. The police have now targeted these areas with a view to putting them on priority if anything is reported. Please get an incident form from either the police or your local neighbourhood watch coordinator and fill in the details of date and time. Report these to the police on 0845 125222 so that you can give them an overall picture on which they can take remedial action. In cases or urgency call 999.
If you do not have a neighbourhood watch in your area, do contact me and I will help you arrange one.
I am really keen on the new system which has been introduced in Byfleet and enjoy the challenge of recycling as much of my household rubbish as possible. During hot weather, however, I am making sure that I am double wrapping raw meat or fish and putting it into a tightly tied plastic bag. In this way I am not having problems with a smelly bin or magots!
Clean cardboard, paper and plastic milk bottles are the norm for recycling but sometimes I have a query on others. I am hoping to go to Grundons, the recycling centre, later this year to find out exactly which extra items are acceptable and will be publishing my findings in the LibDem Focus. If you have any queries of this nature, do contact Woking Borough Council on 01483 755855 and ask the Wheelie Bin team to clarify.
