A great all round team performance by Christ Church against a young Weysiders team who never gave up.
Pete Gunn put Christ Church ahead with a great header following some great team interplay. Jon Finch then increased the lead before Weysiders pulled it back to 2-1 with a penalty. Jon Herbert increased the lead to 3 - 1 but once again Weysiders came back and not once but twice to equalise at 3- 3 (including an own goal by Graeme Johnson). Within minutes of the restart Jon Finch scored twice to complete his hat trick and put Christ Church 5 - 3 up and Jon Herbert adding a second Christ Church were looking good at 6 - 3 but back again came Weysiders to score a fourth but with minutes left Jon Herbert completed his hat trick to give Christ Church a comfortable 7 - 4 win.
But while the scorers grab the limelight, praise should go to the way Christ Church played some excellent flowing football which led to each of the 7 goals. Jon Cheney and Pete Gunn in their first games were excellent creating a number of chances, some of which led to goals. Graeme J also hit the cross bar and there were a number of shots blocked.
Praise to Weysiders who played the game with an excellent spirit throughout and also to the ref who helped both teams enjoy a great game.
