What a game and sadly what a result! The first 10 minutes no one seemed to control the game and then Christ Church struck with the first of Jon Herbert's goals. No sooner had the ball gone in the net but Badshot broke away and scored.
Twenty minutes and Christ Church were again in front through Jon and held the lead for some time before a penalty was conceded and Badshot were back level. But Christ Church quicky went back into the lead and held a 3-2 advantage until just before half time when Badshot again broke away and equalised. Was 3-3 fair at half time? No Christ Church nearly scored three more but nearly doesn't count sadly.
Straight after the start of the second half Badshot took the lead for the first time in the game and fifteen minutes later were 5 - 3 up.
Then with 15 minutes to go Christ Church started to apply the concerted pressure that they showed in the first half and deservedly scored their fourth again through Jon Herbert. and then with minutes left a succession of corners failed to deliver the equaliser and then the ref turned down a reasonable shout for a penalty and then time ran out.
Why what a game? Well every one of Christ Church's goals were the result of some excellent team football, and the never say die spirit that has been typical of the club was very evident.
