ChristChurch Woking Football Club

Report - Bedfont B

Well we continue our incredible run of only completing games in the dry! But sadly another injury as Malcolm Jones damaged his shoulder - we are awaiting an update on the extent of the injury.

And a new goalkeeper! With Tom and Pete unavailable and Graeme having damaged his back moving furniture!! Ollie Wilson stepped between the sticks and did an excellent job pulling off a number of excellent saves.

The first half was very evenly matched and it wasn't until the 30th minute before Bedfont took the lead. Before then CHrist Church pressed but the offside trap worked well for Bedfont. The goal they scored was in fact following a promising attack and then a quick break which was stopped in its tracks only for their right midfield to place an excellent centre on to the head of one of their forwards. But 1 - 0  at half time still meant everything to play for.

The loss of Malcolm midway through the first half meant yet another reshuffle but Phil March in midfield and Joe Watts at fullback did the team proud.

For 25 minutes of the second half it was very much even steven until a Bedfont corner just eluded Ant Burrows's head and Ollie's fingertips to go in just under the bar. This was a cruel blow and the team seemed to lose it for a while and two more quick goals were not a fair reflection on the game - that was what Bedfont and the Ref said after the game. we kept battling but we know what we need to do if we want to be promoted next season.
