Match Report - Surrey Athletic

Well a make shift team it may have been with last minute changes but a team with Graeme in Goal a defence of Matt P, Paolo, SImon F and Les; midfield of Tim, Phil Jordan and Joe; with forwards Simon T and Jon H.

Substitutes were Ian T and Matt S who had to turn up late because he was packing!

With the first few minutes evenly matched we put together a lovely set of one two's and passes that involved, Joe, Jordan, Jon and Tim before Tim rifled in a fantastic shot  0-1. Several opportunities occurred for both teams but Graeme was inspired form between the posts culminating in a fantastic penalty save pushing the well placed shot wide of the goal and Phil clearing it up field.

Another save from Graeme, a call from Tim and the ball was thrown straight to him and a great pass to Jon H who does what he does best and scored our second. Several more chances at both ends in a very competitive but excellent spirit of a game. HT 0-2.

The second half was less than 5 minutes old when a mistake on their right led to a cross being parried by Graeme's leg onto Paolo who scored the easiest of tap in own goals! 1-2.

Matt S replaced Les (who was beginning to show his age!) and the battle to hold on got into full swing. The resilience was excellent, at times kick and rush but always effective and when they breached the last line there was Graeme, tipping the ball over the bar, round the post, punching clear, catching crosses. Then Simon T had to come off and Ian T came on and he too showed he can still clear the ball a long way when needs demand.

Paolo had cramp, and all of us were shattered at the end but a great result. well done everyone
