Annual Hockey Match

Each New Year Christ Church not so young people take on the Youth at a game of hockey to help ease off those extra pounds.

This year is no exception and the Youth will have their work cut out. Attempts to sabotage the team by giving Tim Mayne and Jon Cheney the flu and the editor damaging his hamstring have not ampened the enthusiasm of Mort's Marauding Masters.

Watch out for the report after noon 1st Jan 2007!

Jon Cheney overslept but made it in time to come on as substitutue in a thrilling match which saw the Marauding Masters score five times and come out with a 4 - 4 draw.

For the first time in over 10 years the Marauding Masters scored more than two goals in the game, more to the point was that they were never behind. Four times they took the lead only to be pegged back by the resilient Youth (and an inexplicable own goal by the editor!)

A very even match with a fantastic turnout to watch a match in near perfect conditions. Both teams had some new faces and were able to rotate a number of substitutes, although some of the Maruaders were indicating that they may suffer later in the day - but was that because of the night before??

Thanks to all who took part - I think 34 players took part which is also a record, and over 50 turned up to cheer on. Next year, the Marauders will look to go one better!
