Alpine Garden Society Woking - West Surrey Group

More about the Group.

The group was formed to promote an interest in alpine plants in the wild and in cultivation. The term ‘alpine plants’ is taken to include herbaceous plants, shrubs, small bulbs and orchids from all over the world that would be at home in a rock or small woodland garden, or in an unheated greenhouse or frame.

Our friendly meetings offer a wealth of information and inspiration with slide shows by enthusiastic speakers often world authorities in their field.

The meeting includes a mini plant show, plant sales, raffle and refreshments. Growers, photographers, plant hunters, mountain walkers and couch gardeners are all very welcome.

The Woking - West Surrey Group is affiliated to the national Alpine Garden Society (http://www.alpinegardensociety.net/index.html).  However, membership of the Alpine Garden Society is not essential for membership of the group. Our annual subscription is six pounds or ten for a family. Why not enjoy one of our evenings as a visitor for just £1?

Meetings are held at 7.30 on the first Thursday of each month, from September to May inclusive, at Mayford Village Hall, Saunders Lane, Woking GU22 0NR (http://uk.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?db=pc&pc=GU220NR).

To get there take the A320, the main road between Woking and Guildford. Near Wyevale Nursery (previously Jackman’s) there is a roundabout at which take Smarts Heath Road. Immediately after crossing the railway take the right hand fork which is Saunders Lane. The village hall and car park are a few hundred yards on the right
