What is "Tune In"?
"Tune In" is the name for a series of community based workshops across the Borough, aimed at providing residents with the opportunity to:
discuss issues in their local area
meet representatives from a range of public sector and voluntary bodies who work in the area
consider how collectively they can address issue that are raised
consider how they can become more involved in the day to day life of their neighbourhood.
Overview
This 'Tune In' event took place at the St. Mary's Centre, Byfleet on Thursday 5 July 2007. Representatives from local statutory and voluntary organisations were joined by over 90 Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford residents. Workshops were run throughout the evening by independent facilitators, the topics of which were determined by the residents. As each resident arrived at the event they completed a registration form which asked them to list their top three key issues of improvement for their neighbourhood. Discussion around these topics was held for about an hour and a half during which time residents took a positive lead in putting forward ideas for solutions and suggesting how they, community groups and the relevant agencies may be able to help the community in solving these issues.

A number of actions resulted from the meeting which the local Council, the Police and the community themselves need to address. As far as the neighbourhood Officer, Prue Ibbs, tasks go, these were the areas that needed to be looked at.
Animals have been attacking the litter bin outside the school in Peatmore Avenue - the old waste bin has been removed and it has now been replaced with a new bin which has since resolved the problem.
Continuous litter problem in Oyster Lane - this area would normally be on a 12 weekly clean. However, it has been arranged with Serco that a weekly litter pick will take place and also two more litter bins have been installed in this road.
No footpath along one side of Dartnell Park Road - after previous local consultations with residents, it was strongly felt that this situation would not be desirable and no further action will be taken.
Overhanging vegetation along the path that runs from Dartnell Avenue to Camphill Road - Serco have advised that the vegetation was cut back in June 2007, September 2007 and again in February 2008. This area will continue to be monitored.
At Orchard Dene there have been access problems for Biffa waste Services when making the waste and recycling collections - Recently there have been no problems reported but this situation continues to be monitored.
Mill Lane litter problem - A litter bin has been placed on Mill Lane near the entrance to the area, which will soon be managed by the Wildlife Trust.
